Gap Year is the story of what happens when trusting someone goes horribly wrong, when loving someone has no future, and when reshaping your life while avoiding death becomes the challenge.
Within two weeks of meeting a charismatic stranger on the train from Copenhagen and deciding to trust him in a gambling scheme, Philip Frey is in love with the man’s goddaughter, is initiated into an ancient religious order led by her mother and is witness to a murder. The setting is Amsterdam, where the fallout of Philip’s decision leaves him weak-kneed while running for his life.

From his gap year travels abroad, Philip wanted a carefree break before starting medical school, an adventurous bookmark between chapters of his life. Instead, he returned home to Charleston with lingering images of death, a palpable fear for his own life, and a smoldering predicament that would alter his future.
